Amsterdamned II

Amsterdamned II is a 2025 Dutch-language crime thriller slasher film written, composed and directed by Dick Maas. It is a sequel to his 1988 film Amsterdamned. The film stars Huub Stapel reprising his role as Detective Eric Visser, along with Holly Mae Brood.

Plot
When an American couple is taking a midnight cruise on the canals of Amsterdam, they find their driver missing and then, both of them are caught under one of the overpasses when the male ends up submerged followed by the female, whose attempt to rise above the sinking boat, results in her disappearing. The next morning, a tour boat is on the canal when they see the corpses of the couple on a waterboat that soon is engulfed in flames. Detective Tara Lee is in charge of the case and she is baffled by what has happened. Tara is a young spirited detective who lives alone in a trailer park and always has to protect her sister, Roos, a recovering drug addict who has been involved in an abusive relationship. The next night, a drag queen ends his show and is followed by a mysterious figure. The next day, the drag queen's body is found impaled on an anchor and is disembowled. Tara realizes that they may be dealing with a serial killer. Her boss, Koos van Amstel, decides to call on an old friend. The old friend is Eric Visser, who was involved in a similar case nearly four decades ago. Retired in Limburg, Eric goes to a market and discovers vegan food for the first time only to find it gross. He is preparing to head back to Amsterdam not just to visit his daughter Anneke, but to receive a medal for his career. However, Eric also knows that there is a story that the man he caught years ago may not have been the killer due to a DNA match proving to be negative, which upon his return, draws the attention of cocky tabloid reporter Mick van der Burg. Eric and Koos look at the sinking boat from the couple's case when Eric meets Tara for the first time. Tara, learning of Eric's reputation, is not thrilled about his involvement. However, he tells her that he is there simply as an observer. However, it becomes clear that Eric is still haunted by what happened in the past and decides to go on his own investigation when he learns that the daughter of the original "killer" now works as a cleaning lady in a museum. A tense conversation leads to Eric being rebuffed. Tara, realizing that Eric isn't planning to back down anytime soon, decides to slowly let him in when another attack from the new killer results in a couple being forced underwater in a mini-car. Eric and Tara soon realize that the deaths may be the cause of something supernatural. After a possible suspect is found in a homeless man named Josef Visbeen, Tara and Eric team up to question him. This leads to a chase where Tara finds herself on the front of the boat Josef is driving while Eric chases first by car, then on a jet ski. When Eric finally stops Josef, Josef sets himself on fire and jumps off the building. Reeling from the events, Tara fears she may end up suspended and, arriving at the local pub, sees Eric sitting. The two talk when Tara reveals that a military task force is patrolling the canals. The killer proceeds to kill most of the task force underwater. Eric and Tara follow the killer's trail to an old sewer system Eric is familiar with. That is, until they find a new area that has been built with supernatural element. Upon entering the new space, the killer emerges from above and attacks both Eric and Tara. Both shoot at the killer, who escapes, but soon discovers a bomb has been planted. Eric and Tara nearly escape and find a body on a nearby dock, suffering from the bullet wounds. The two unmask the body and it's revealed to be the daughter of the original killer. It was revealed that the daughter, raised by a Czech mother, served in her country's Special Forces division as an expert diver like her Dutch father. Her body is used as a cover up for the real killer identity, a supernatural Dutch folklore figure "Bullebak". The next day, Eric receives his medal and is offered congratulations by Anneke and Tara. As Eric stays with Anneke, he calls Tara, who is set to compete in a race with her sister on the canals. All of a sudden, from far, three bubbles appear in the water. == Cast ==
