2020 census As of the
2020 census, Tekoa had a population of 817, a median age of 51.3 years, and 21.7% of residents under the age of 18; 28.9% were 65 years of age or older, and there were 94.5 males for every 100 females (93.4 males for every 100 females age 18 and over). Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.57% of the population. Of the 318 households 30.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.3% were married couples living together, 10.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.8% were non-families. 29.2% of households were one person and 15.1% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 2.98. In the city the age distribution of the population shows 27.7% under the age of 18, 4.4% from 18 to 24, 20.5% from 25 to 44, 24.7% from 45 to 64, and 22.8% 65 or older. The median age was 42 years.
