2024 Tennessee House of Representatives election

The 2024 Tennessee House of Representatives election was held on November 5, 2024, to elect 99 seats for the Tennessee House of Representatives. The elections coincided with the Presidential, U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and State Senate elections. The primary election was held on August 1, 2024. Tennessee has open primaries, meaning that any voter can choose to vote on either a Republican or Democratic ballot during primary elections.

Background
This was the first general election held after the high-profile 2023 expulsions of Democratic Representatives Justin Jones and Justin J. Pearson. The expulsions occurred following their participation in a protest on the House floor advocating for gun control in the wake of the Covenant School shooting in Nashville. The incident drew widespread national media attention and was widely criticized by Democrats and civil rights organizations as undemocratic. Both lawmakers were later reappointed by local officials and won their respective special elections in 2023 to return to the House. ==Partisan background==
