2020 census As of the
2020 census, Thompsonville had a population of 8,514. The median age was 34.7 years. 23.6% of residents were under the age of 18 and 14.0% of residents were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 92.4 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 89.2 males age 18 and over. 100.0% of residents lived in urban areas, while 0.0% lived in rural areas. There were 3,491 households in Thompsonville, of which 29.5% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 26.8% were married-couple households, 25.2% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 36.5% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. About 37.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. Of the 3,442 households 29.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 33.3% were married couples living together, 17.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 44.9% were non-families. 36.5% of households were one person and 11.5% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.28 and the average family size was 3.02. The age distribution was 25.5% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 34.0% from 25 to 44, 16.6% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% 65 or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females, there were 90.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.6 males. The median household income was $39,154 and the median family income was $42,692. Males had a median income of $38,000 versus $29,550 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $19,851. About 7.3% of families and 9.2% of the population were below the
poverty line, including 11.8% of those under age 18 and 12.0% of those age 65 or over. ==References==
