Tyrotama abyssus is a species of spider in the family Hersiliidae. It is a southern African endemic and is commonly known as the Swartberg Two-tailed Ground Spider.

Tyrotama abyssus occurs in Lesotho and South Africa. In South Africa, the species is presently known from two provinces at altitudes ranging from 172 to 1,706 m above sea level. ==Habitat==

The species is found in Nama Karoo and Succulent Karoobiomes. It constructs circular webs under stones, with the web attached to the underside of the stone and hanging like a veil.
