The Utica–Rome Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of two counties in Central New York anchored by the cities of Utica and Rome. As of the 2020 census, the MSA had a population of 292,264.

As of the census of 2020, there were 299,896 people residing within the MSA. The racial makeup of the MSA was 82.2% White, 5.8% African American, 0.3% Native American, 3.8% Asian, 0.1%< Pacific Islander, 2.2% from other races, and 5.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.7% of the population. In 2000, the median income for a household in the MSA was $34,417, and the median income for a family was $42,956.
