Whitmore High School

Whitmore High School was created in September 1974 when the London Borough of Harrow adopted a comprehensive system of education. It was formerly two schools on one site, Lascelles Boys' Secondary School and Lascelles Girls' Secondary School. Whitmore is now an established community comprehensive school with a sixth form and is a specialist Science College. In September 2010 the school moved to a new building, designed to support modern education and specialist facilities. Whitmore High School's last three Ofsted inspections, one in 2007, one in 2015, have all judged the school as "Outstanding". == Campus and facilities ==

The school occupies a modern campus equipped with specialist resources for academic and extracurricular activities, including: • Modern ICT suites and a fleet of laptops • Sports facilities including a large sports hall and a fitness suite • Drama and dance studios with professional lighting and sound • Science classrooms designed for practical learning across disciplines • Media and music suites with recording and rehearsal rooms • Dedicated provisions for students with additional learning needs == Sixth form ==

Whitmore opened its sixth form in 2006 as part of the borough's "collegiate" post-16 offer. Along with the rest of the school, Whitmore's sixth form was judged as "Outstanding" by Ofsted in 2015 and 2025. The construction of a new sixth form block began in late 2013, and the finished building opened in 2015, consisting of six classrooms, a new sixth form common room, study area and an office space. Later additions to the sixth form block include a small food serving area, with chilled drinks, coffee and light snacks. == Curriculum ==

Whitmore High School offers a broad curriculum: • Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9): Core academic subjects alongside arts, languages, technology, and physical education • Key Stage 4 (Years 10–11): GCSEs across English, mathematics, sciences, humanities, languages, and option subjects • Sixth Form (Years 12–13): A-Level and BTEC courses preparing students for university or vocational futures == Academic performance ==

Whitmore High School consistently performs above national averages in GCSE and Sixth Form results: • In 2024: 28% of students achieved 5 or more grades 7-9; Progress 8 of +0.8 places the school in the 94th percentile nationally.
