Du Preez first played for Munster in late 2009, after he was signed on a three-month loan as injury cover for
Marcus Horan. He impressed during his short time there and, in May 2010, it was announced that Du Preez was returning to Munster after signing a two-year permanent contract. He has since become an integral member of the Munster team. He scored his first try for Munster in their
Heineken Cup Round 5 clash with
Castres Olympique on 14 January 2012. Du Preez signed a contract extension with Munster in February 2012. It was announced on 14 May 2013 that du Preez would be leaving Munster to return to South Africa. On 13 October 2013, Preez moved to France to sign for
Lyon ahead of the
2014–15 Top 14 season. Du Preez won multiple Currie Cups (2005–07) with the Free State Cheetahs and the Pro 12 with Munster in 2011. ==International career==
