Early career Yip began his career in the Education Service. He then joined the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Division, before serving in the
Ministry of Manpower (MOM)'s Foreign Workforce Policy Department from 2006 to 2007 and subsequently in the Defence Policy Office at the
Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) between 2007 to 2011. Following which, he was the
Ministry of Health (MOH)'s Director of the Ageing Planning Office and concurrently Director of the Smart Regulation Division from 2011 to 2013. Yip later joined the
Ministry of National Development (MND), where he served as Senior Director and was the founding director of the Municipal Services Office from 2014 to 2018, leading its establishment and early operations. Between 2018 and 2020, he concurrently held appointments as Group Chief of the Silver Generation Office at the Agency for Integrated Care, where he oversaw a network of 3,500 ambassadors to engage over 500,000 seniors from the Pioneer and Merdeka Generations, as well as Advisor (Care Integration) at the Ministry of Health, where he spearheaded the Ageing Planning Office to develop Singapore’s ageing strategy. He currently serves as a Director at Temasek, where he focuses on human capital strategies, plans and policy at the Temasek eco-system level, as well as early-stage deep tech investments.
Politics Yip was fielded in the
2020 general election as a solo PAP candidate contesting in
Yio Chu Kang SMC against the
Progress Singapore Party (PSP). On 11 July 2020, Yip was declared an elected Member of Parliament (MP) representing Yio Chu Kang SMC in the
14th Parliament after garnering almost 61% of the vote against PSP's Kayla Low. In the
2025 general election, Yip ran for reelection in Yio Chu Kang SMC against People's Alliance for Reform's candidate Michael Fang Amin. On 4 May 2025, Yip was re-elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) representing Yio Chu Kang SMC in the
15th Parliament after garnering 78.75% of the vote against Fang's 21.25%. Yip is the Chairman of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Defence and Foreign Affairs. He is the Vice Chairman of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Health. He is in the Public Accounts Committee in Parliament. ==Personal life==
