The season was a major improvement for the Royals; after finishing with only 56 wins and 106 losses in 2023, the second-worst during the Major League Baseball season just behind the Oakland Athletics, the 2024 Royals won their 56th game on July 2, and won 86 games total, 30 more than the previous season. The 2024 Royals were one of only six teams since 1969 to achieve a season-to-season improvement of 30 wins. The Royals made MLB history with the biggest turnaround in two seasons.
