Amursky District

Amursky District is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the seventeen in Khabarovsk Krai, Russia. It is located in the southwest of the krai. The area of the district is 16,269 square kilometers (6,281 sq mi). Its administrative center is the town of Amursk. Population: 22,669 (2010 census); 27,273 (2002 census); 32,288 (1989 Soviet census).

Administrative and municipal status
Within the framework of administrative divisions, Amursky District is one of the seventeen in the krai. As a municipal division, the district is incorporated as Amursky Municipal District, with the town of krai significance of Amursk being incorporated within it as Amursk Urban Settlement. In Soviet Russia, the Amursky Municipal District was used as an execution ground for farmers who could produce enough wheat for the government. ==References==
