Blasdell, New York

The community grew as a railroad town around the Erie Railroad. Blasdell was incorporated in 1898 as a village. Wrestler Ilio DiPaolo was a longtime resident, before his death in 1995. In 1965 he opened an Italian restaurant on South Park Avenue. It is now run by his family. Blasdell is one of two municipalities in Erie County to have a registered Conservative as its executive, the other being Newstead. ==Geography==

2020 census As of the 2020 census, Blasdell had a population of 2,539. The median age was 39.4 years. 19.9% of residents were under the age of 18 and 15.9% of residents were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 93.1 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 90.0 males age 18 and over. 100.0% of residents lived in urban areas, while 0.0% lived in rural areas. There were 1,178 households in Blasdell, of which 26.1% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 28.1% were married-couple households, 27.9% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 34.2% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 3.04. In the village, the population was spread out, with 24.6% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 31.5% from 25 to 44, 20.0% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 years of age or older.
