2020 census As of the
2020 census, the county had a population of 421,401. Of the residents, 21.5% were under the age of 18 and 19.2% were 65 years of age or older; the median age was 41.7 years. For every 100 females there were 96.9 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 94.7 males. 82.9% of residents lived in urban areas and 17.1% lived in rural areas. The county population contained 26.20% under the age of 18, 8.00% from 18 to 24, 28.70% from 25 to 44, 26.00% from 45 to 64, and 11.10% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.50 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.90 males.
