Justin Elicker defeated Republican Tom Goldenberg, winning all 30 of the city's wards. This election was concurrent with a referendum on an amendment to the New Haven Charter, which would extend the terms of the mayor and members of the Board of Alders to four years from two, starting with the 2027 election.
