Political division
The province is divided into nine districts (, singular: ), each of which is headed by a mayor (alcalde). Ethnic groups
The people in the province are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (92.09%) learnt to speak in childhood, 7.56% of the residents started speaking in Spanish (2007 Peru Census). == See also ==
