2020 census, there were 229,861 people and 57,117 families residing in the county. The median age was 36.6 years, with 24.3% of residents under the age of 18 and 14.5% 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 97.8 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 95.6 males age 18 and over. 77.9% of residents lived in urban areas, while 22.1% lived in rural areas. There were 85,539 households in the county, of which 35.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them and 26.3% had a female householder with no spouse or partner present.
