Racial and ethnic composition 2020 census As of the
2020 census, Shelton had a population of 10,371 people, 3,696 households, and 2,055 families residing in the city. The median age was 35.6 years, with 25.8% of residents under the age of 18 and 16.6% 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 96.3 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 93.1 males age 18 and over. There were 3,696 households in Shelton, of which 36.7% had children under the age of 18 living in them.
