2020 census As of the
2020 census, there were 14,117 people and 3,615 families residing in the county. The median age was 43.0 years, 22.3% of residents were under the age of 18, and 20.6% of residents were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 92.4 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 89.7 males age 18 and over. There were 5,734 households in the county, of which 27.9% had children under the age of 18 living in them, 42.8% were married-couple households, 20.4% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 29.0% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. About 30.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. Less than 0.1% of residents lived in urban areas, while 100.0% lived in rural areas.
