Mohnike worked as a
research assistant at the department of Scandinavian studies at the
Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg (2001–2007) and the department of Scandinavian studies at the
University of Strasbourg (2007–2008). As
visiting researcher he stayed at the
University of Copenhagen (2004),
University of Gothenburg (2013) and the
Centre Marc Bloch in
Berlin (2016–2017). In 2008 he became head of the department of Scandinavian studies at the
University of Strasbourg, where he was appointed
professor in 2017. the publication series
Globalizing Fiction (together with Charlotte Krauss and Urs Urban) at
Lit Verlag (since 2012) and (together with Michael Rießler and Joshua Wilbur) of the publication series
Samica at the
Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (since 2014). Since 2013 he has been the founding president of the Association pour les études nordiques, the French professional association for Northern European Studies. Mohnike also works as a translator from Swedish and writes contributions for popular science blogs and magazines. Together with Heide Henschel, he published a
children's book at Kookbooks in 2004. He is also the author of a brochure explaining the
