January • 8 – After a 50-year career, David Lee Roth retired from music following the conclusion of a five-date Las Vegas residency. • 14 – Underoath released their first studio album in four years, Voyeurist. • 16 – Daughtry bassist Josh Paul announced that he was leaving the band after fifteen years. He previously left the band in 2012 and returned the next year. • 20 – Singer and actor Meat Loaf died at the age of 74. • 21 – Band of Horses released their first studio album in almost six years, Things Are Great. • John Mellencamp released his first studio album in five years, Strictly a One-Eyed Jack. • Aoife O'Donovan released her first studio album in six years, Age of Apathy.
