2020 census, Findlay had a population of 40,313, a median age of 39.2 years, 19.8% of residents under the age of 18, and 18.9% of residents 65 years of age or older. The population density was , and the gender makeup was 48.2% male and 51.8% female (93.8 males per 100 females overall and 91.3 males per 100 females age 18 and over). There were 17,655 households in Findlay, of which 23.7% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of the 17,354 households, 28.3% had children under 18 living with them, 43.1% were married couples living together, 11.8% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.6% had a male householder with no wife present, and 40.5% were not families. About 32.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 10.9% had someone living alone who was 65 or older. The average household size was 2.29, and the average family size was 2.87. The median age in the city was 35.9 years. The age distribution was 22.2% under 18; 12.9% from 18 to 24; 25.5% from 25 to 44; 25.0% from 45 to 64; and 14.5% were 65 years of age or older. In the city, the age distribution was 23.8% under 18, 11.9% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 21.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 or older. The median age was 35 years.
