List of people on the postage stamps of the United States

This article lists people who have been featured on United States postage stamps, listed by their name, the year they were first featured on a stamp, and a short description of their notability. Since the United States Post Office issued its first stamp in 1847, over 4,000 stamps have been issued and over 800 people featured. People have been featured on multiple stamps in one issue, or over time, such as various Presidents of the United States. Through the years, a person has had to be deceased before their face appeared on a stamp, though the USPS will document that a stamp has commemorated people, living or deceased, without including their actual face on the stamp – such as the image of a yellow submarine from the 1969 eponymous album cover shown on the 1999 stamp commemorating four people who collectively formed The Beatles.
